Skin irritation test / Skin tolerability test is a dermatological test for assessing the skin's tolerance for the product. Independent dermatologists examine the test subjects' skin for signs of irritation after application of the product. Dermatologists look for signs of irritation such as redness, swelling, bumps, blisters and skin damage. Based on the results, the product is classified as either non-irritating, slightly irritating, moderately irritating and highly irritating. All products from Dr.Ankerstjerne are classified as non-irritating.

The skin moisture study is a dermatological test to assess the moisturizing effect the product has on the skin. The skin's moisture level is measured using an instrument (Corneometer® CM 825) on a standardized area of the skin that is the same for all test participants. The skin's moisture level is measured before application of the test product, and then 1, 3 and 5 hours after application of the test product. The effect is assessed by comparing the moisture level in the skin before application of the test product with the moisture level after 1, 3 and 5 hours. To get the most correct results possible, the test subjects must have clean skin, without skin care. Temperature and humidity in the surroundings are standardized during the test period. Corresponding moisture measurements are carried out on the opposite side of the test subject's body without the test product being applied, to ensure that factors other than the test product do not influence the effect being measured.

Vitamin B3 / Niacinamid 4%

Niacinamide, vitamin B3, is a powerful water-soluble antioxidant. In addition to its antioxidant properties, Niacinamide has a wide range of well-documented effects; Niacinamide improves the skin's surface structure; Strengthens the skin barrier and maintains the moisture balance in the skin; Reduces irritation and redness in the skin; Regulates and reduces sebum production; Evens skin tone and reduces hyperpigmentation.

SUPERFOOD multipurpose vitamin face gel contains 4% Niacinamide. It has been shown in studies that a concentration of 4% niacinamide is optimal for seeing results from the ingredient.

Vitamin B5 / Dexpanthenol 5%

Dexpanthenol, pro vitamin B5, is quickly absorbed deep into the skin and converted into the active vitamin B5. Dexpanthenol has a well-documented hydrating effect by binding water and reducing the skin's fluid loss, which is important for maintaining softness and elasticity in the skin. It has been shown to improve skin irritations such as dryness, redness, roughness and itching of the skin.

Vitamin A / Retinyl Palmitate

Retinyl Palmitate is a vitamin A acid derivative, also called a retinoid, which is converted into active vitamin A in the skin. Among other things, retinoids work by stimulating aging cells to continue the renewal process and prevent and reverse the development of wrinkles and fine lines. Retinoids can also be effective in acne and help with clogged pores / comedones. Some retinoids, especially the highly active forms, can be very irritating to the skin. By using precursors to retinol, this side effect can be significantly reduced. We have chosen to use Retinyl Palmitate in SUPERFOOD, as the side effect profile of Retinyl Palmitate causes less local irritation. Retinyl Palmitate causes the skin's barrier to weaken to a lesser extent and does not increase UV sensitivity or irritation/inflammation. Retinyl palmitate can therefore be used daily, all year round. Retinyl Palmitate is better suited for sensitive skin than other vitamin A acid derivatives.

Because of. content of vitamin A, SUPERFOOD should be avoided during pregnancy.

Vitamin E

Tocopherol is a naturally occurring form of vitamin E. Vitamin E is an important antioxidant in the skin that counteracts oxidative stress caused by the many environmental, chemical and physical factors that the skin is exposed to every day. Antioxidants in the skin thus protect the skin against the harmful effects of oxidative stress, including premature aging of the skin and pigment damage.

Sea buckthorn extract

Extract from the Scandinavian superfruit sea buckthorn is rich in antioxidants and, among other things, has a high content of natural vitamin C. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin against the harmful effects of oxidative stress, such as premature aging of the skin and pigment damage.

Sea buckthorn extract has been shown to be able to improve the skin's elasticity and moisture content, adds glow to the skin and has positive effects on irritated skin.

Glycerin

Glycerin has a moisturizing effect and improves the skin's moisture balance and function. Glycerin works by drawing moisture into the top layer of the skin when it is applied. Through its moisture-binding properties, Glycerin can help reduce irritation and improve the skin's elasticity.
